Frequently Asked Questions...
How does the PROCESS of a TATTOO work?
When a person is about to get a coloured tattoo, MUST there be a stencil transfer every single time? Is the shading included in the stencil transfer? How are stencil transfers made?
How does the shading (colour) process go? How difficult is it to shade with the tattoo machine because of the usage of needles.
How are the lines of tattoos drawn so perfectly straight? What happens if you mess up a little bit?
Please include every detail and information!
I know it's alot of questions, but I really want to become professional tattooist!
Answer:
No, there doesn't have to be a stencil, you can draw it on freehand. No, you do the shading the way it looks best. Stencil transfers are made by hand, or with a thermal processor. Shading and coloring are very similar, in technique, and you use different groupings of needles to do it. Depends on the effect you want, and what you're used to. You engrave the lines straight, by stretching the skin, and going as slow as you need to. If you screw up, hopefully you can cover or disguise your mistake. You can take out a small portion of a bad line with some peroxide, if you really have to. You're not supposed to, but it works. Every tattoo artist I know keeps a little bottle of bleach in his work area. Hope this helps! Take care. Back again. One thing you should be thinking about, is a machine, and I highly reccomend the Martini line of machines. They're hand made in Italy, with eight-wrap coils, and are top of the line, up against machines twice the price. Check out Martini-Machines.com on your search. The large-liner 'Headbutt' is a good one, weighing in at six and a half ounces. Far better than the cumbersome machines that are two pounds with the grip. They can be tuned for lining or shading.
