Frequently Asked Questions...
Has anyone seen a manufactured, aluminum or stainless auxiliary gas tank suitable for use on a custom Harley?
Or am I going to have to make them ?
We have FXRs with big inch motors and 4 gal tanks, that limits us to about 120 mi. range.
I'm looking for some kind of 1-2 gal. auxiliary tank (maybe fork mounted) to tie into the cross over line, so when we're traveling we dont have to worry about fuel.
We don't get 6 gal.tanks because we already have custom paint and most of the time 4 gals is enough.
There are occasions when we've hit areas that don't have gas stations for more than 120 mi. though rare it happens.
Answer:
Lots of e.p.a. and d.o.t. regulations with fuel tanks, I doubt you will find anything for sale from a reputable company that is designed to tie in with your existing fuel system.
But, you might have a look at these. They look a little better than strapping a big red jug on your bike. Plus, you could probably fabricate some fuel fittings to it, and make a detachable set up to only use on trips you need it for.
