Is there one type of guitar that's best for beginners? Well not exactly. Different people enjoy different styles of music, have different budgets for their purchase and should be buying different types of guitars. In this article we'll explore which type of guitar you should be buying if you're just starting out.
What's your Type of Music?
Most beginners decided to learn the guitar because they want to learn to play their favourite songs. I sure did. Sure eventually you might move towards writing your own songs and of course jamming with friends, but in the beginning it will be able learning other peoples songs.
If you're a metal fan then no questions asked buy an electric guitar. Likewise if you enjoy listening to quitier acoustic music then an acoustic guitar makes more sense. I'd suggest buying the guitar the more suits the style of music you hope to play as your learn.
What's your Budget
Money has to come into this conversation unfortunately. Expect to pay about $100-$150 for an acoustic starter guitar, and about $50 more or so for an electric guitar, practice amp and a patch cord. If you choose to continue to learn and play guitar then your first guitar won't be your last, although you should be prepared to use it for a year or so. Potential Downfalls of Acoustic Guitars
Acoustic guitar strings are thicker then those of an electric and are harder on your finger tips when first learning. Over time you will build calluses, how ever until those start to show up be prepared for some sore fingers after practising if you choose an acoustic guitar.
