Frequently Asked Questions...
anyone help me do this engineering very stuck?
a composite bar is 400mm long and consists of a titanium alloy tube connected to a steel bar. Te tube dimensions are: AB mm dia x 10mm bore x 200mm long, the steel bar is AB dia x200mm long. If the composite bar supports a axial force of ABC kN. Young modulus of steel, E=210 GPa and titanium Alloy =114 GPa. Determine:
a) the stresses in the titanium alloy and steel
b) the change in length of the composite bar
a composite bar is 400mm long and consists of a titanium alloy tube connected to a steel bar. Te tube dimensions are: 70 mm dia x 10mm bore x 200mm long, the steel bar is 70 dia x200mm long. If the composite bar supports a axial force of 705 kN. Young modulus of steel, E=210 GPa and titanium Alloy =114 GPa. Determine:
a) the stresses in the titanium alloy and steel
b) the change in length of the composite bar
Answer:
these were pretty easy but its been awhile since I've done any
I think it went with this equation
Stress= Force/Area
Stress=strain x modulus of elasticity
Just remember that strain has no units.
